Be Aware: Highway-91 Speed Limit Signs Have Moved
In a recent notice provided by Richmond City, the speed limit sign located on Highway 91 in South Richmond has been moved.
The 45mph speed limit sign on the south end of Richmond, near Lower Foods, has moved about a half mile more south closer to the entrance of State St.
UDOT made this change in hope to help the bus drivers of North Cache Middle School.
In a KSL article, concerns over high speeds on U.S. 91 near North Cache Middle School have led school administrators and bus drivers to seek assistance from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
Cache County School District bus drivers have noted that cars often exceed the speed limit, posing a safety risk. Despite the area not qualifying for a school zone or traffic signal, UDOT planed to conduct a traffic study to explore potential solutions. In the interim, the school district is advising bus drivers to take a longer, safer route to ensure student safety.
Before the expansion of the highway in Richmond from 2002-2005, the speed limit through Richmond was 35 mph. After the expansion was completed, the highway speed limit was increased to 45 mph.
Drivers coming in and through Richmond should take a notice of these changes. This may not be the last.
