No More Domain Names
In March 2023, I had the opportunity to purchase the domain name richmondsencyclopedia.org for my website. I was so happy and excited to have a domain name for my website so that it could look absolutely professional.
I purchased the domain name from Google Domains because it had the cheapest domains available. For the last year, I have been using richmondsencyclopedia.org. When I had to change my name to Bryce's History Project: Richmond Encyclopedia earlier this year, I went to purchase a second domain, bhpre.org, to start using it along with the previous domain.
When I went over to Google Domains to purchase the new domain, I was informed by Google that they were no longer providing domains, and I would have to start using Squarespace to use my domains. What they didn't inform me is that I would have to manually move all 2,100 pages worth of information to SquareSpace, re-purchase the domains for $20 each, and then purchase a $23 subscription in order to publish the website.
I have tried contacting SquareSpace and Google about this and there is no fix. So, I have decided that I am no longer using a domain name for my encyclopedia. The only way to get to the encyclopedia is sites.google.com/view/richmondsencylopedia.
I am sorry that it is so long, but I have been running around for the last five months trying to see if there was another way, and there isn't. I hope this isn't too complicated for you and that it doesn't change your view of who I am.
Sincerely,
