A Very Important "Richmond's Encyclopedia" Update
Hello, my name is Bryce Holt. I have been a citizen of Richmond my whole life, and am the descendant of the Funk, Merrill, and Pond Pioneer families. I am the 8th generation to live in Richmond.
I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in my teenage years by missionaries. A few weeks after my baptism, my missionaries introduced to me the website Familysearch.org. I was sucked into the stories and adventures of my ancestors and wanted to learn as much as possible. In this process, I found a love for my small hometown.
As I studied history, I found it boring and difficult trying to find documents and information scattered about the internet, and history books that held different information but supported the same ideas. I also often heard stories and fables that weren't completely true about my ancestors and hometown. To end this, I created Richmond's Encyclopedia.I have been very proud of my website, and have met some wonderful people as I have worked on my town's history. As I have worked on my website, people have assumed that Richmond City pays me or asked me to make this website, when in reality I made this website by myself without any financial gains because I love my city and want to share its history with others.
As of recent, I have made some grammatical, spelling, and citation mistakes on Facebook posts and on my website. Richmond City and certain individuals are being blamed for my mistakes, and I can't ignore this.
To hopefully end this, I am renaming Richmond's Encyclopedia. The new name will be Bryce's History Project: Richmond Encyclopedia. This will hopefully ensure that no one will confuse my website for someone else's work or assume that it is owned by Richmond City.
Thank you Bryce. We love Richmond and have many treasured experiences there in my hometown. Rock Erekson
